Fledgelings Nursery School was established in 1986 and moved to its current premises in the Old Chapel, Chapel Road, Ramsgate in April 1991. Ms Joanne Barton became the owner in February 2003 and has a young family of her own and therefore understands the standards and requirements required by parents. Jo takes a keen interest in the current trends in childcare and education and will ensure that Fledgelings always offers high quality provision where the needs of the children are paramount.
The Chapel conversion provides a wonderful environment for all the children, whose ages range from 0 – 5 years. Downstairs there is a Baby & Toddler Unit (0 – 3 years) with superb facilities and a very high standard of hygiene and care. Upstairs is an extremely well appointed Pre-School Unit (3 – 5 years) catering for 26 children and providing an excellent preparation for school. There is always a very high ratio of qualified staff and a huge range of activities including music, gym and outside play. All work with the children is geared towards the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). Outings, Sports Day, Christmas Parties, Nativity, are all part of activities during the year. Children can also participate in weekly French Lessons with Agnes Valmorin Bligh our French Teacher.
Fledgelings is registered with OFSTED – reports can be seen on request and on the Internet.
The Nursery is open from 7.30am – 6.00pm; Monday to Friday and apart from all Bank Holidays Fledgelings is open all year round. The Nursery year runs from 1st September to 31st August. The Baby & Toddler Unit operates on a full day basis as this facilitates daily organisation and staffing with a minimum of two days bookable. In the PSU Unit it is possible to book full days & school days (9.00am – 3.00pm), two days minimum, or five mornings (9.00am – 1.00pm) or five afternoons (1.30pm – 5.30pm).
